Before any paint goes on, I cover floors and furniture and pull switch plates and hardware. Small holes and dings get filled and sanded first so the finished walls are smooth, not just a fresh colour over old damage.

Cutting in around trim and ceilings is done by hand for a clean line, and walls get two coats so the colour is even and full, without the roller marks or thin patches that come from rushing a single coat.
