A chimney sweep isn't just about removing soot, it's also an inspection. While the flue is being swept I'm looking at the condition of the liner, checking that the stove seals and baffle are intact and confirming the flue is drawing correctly. Most home insurers require evidence of annual sweeping for solid fuel appliances; the certificate I issue gives you that documentation. The work area is fully sheeted before I start and left clean when I'm done, no soot, no mess.
Stove servicing alongside a sweep is the right time to catch small problems before they become bigger ones: a worn rope seal, a cracked baffle or a stiff air control all affect how efficiently and safely the stove burns. I can carry out minor repairs during the same visit in most cases. If there's something that needs a follow-up, a liner that's deteriorating or a flue that isn't drawing as it should, I'll tell you clearly what needs doing and give you a quote for the work.

Rafal and his wife did a beautiful job and offered really great advice. They arrived on time, were neat and tidy, no surprise costs. They provided all the bits and bobs (apart from stove) and were also helped us get our hearth stone so everything was very easy. The stove and alcove look gorgeous, better than we had hoped.
What a great experience! We wanted to change our old log burner to a new efficient burner. We had used Rafel for a repair a couple of years ago so I asked him for a quote for installation and I would get the Burner and Hearth. He then recommended a supplier that he uses and the choice and value were great. The day of installation they arrived on time and started work. They covered all the area they were working and within about 3 hours they had removed the old burner, installed the liner, hearth and the new burner. They left the whole area spotless. We are absolutely thrilled with our burner and have no hesitation in recommending Rafel.
